As a voiceover artist, I’ve come to learn that every industry has its metrics…those little numbers or rankings that some people use to gauge “success.” On IMDb, for instance, one person might see my ranking and think, “That’s pretty darn good!” while another might look at it and wonder, “Wow…that guy’s career has TANKED…wasn’t he in the top 20 at one point?”
OK, so…NO…I’ve definitely not been in the top 20. That space is reserved for household names. In fact, this rank is my all-time high.

The truth? It’s all about perspective. And here’s mine:
That ranking is just a snapshot, a fleeting moment in a constantly changing journey. It doesn’t reflect my growth, my commitment to my craft, or the impact I’ve made on a project. It’s not a measure of the relationships I’ve built with clients, producers, and casting directors. It doesn’t capture the late nights perfecting the read of a script, the joy of landing a gig, or the pride of hearing my voice bring a story to life.
But here’s what it can do: motivate me!
To some, a ranking might feel like a judgment. To me, it’s a challenge…a reason to keep showing up, improving my skills, and proving that I’m not just in this for the numbers…but for the work.
For decision-makers and collaborators out there, I encourage you to look beyond the surface. Whether you’re casting for a voice that connects or building a team to execute your vision, remember that true talent, dedication, and passion often live in places no algorithm can measure.
I’ll keep striving, keep growing, and keep choosing to see the positive. I know I was born with a hunger that can never be satisfied…but that won’t stop me from trying. Because at the end of the day, the work matters far more than the rank.
