The Studio is COMPLETE! Time to Go ALL IN!

When I started in the voiceover industry, I had a simple rule: buy gear as I earn more money. However, I soon realized that this approach might not be the best one. If my situation allowed me to invest in myself, why wait? Of course, I understand that not everyone has the same financial leverage, but if you do, investing in your gear could be a wise decision.

Training is a must in this business, and I believe that gear is a similar investment. Investing in high-quality gear can help you produce better results, and ultimately, secure more jobs. I recently decided to finish my studio and go all-in. I invested in top-of-the-line gear, including the Sennheiser MKH-416 microphone, Universal Audio’s Apollo Twin interface, and a pair of KRK Rokit 5 G4 studio monitors (speakers). I also upgraded from Audacity (freeware) to Adobe Audition (subscription-based) as my DAW.

Now, my studio is professionally treated, with a noise floor well below -95dB. My gear is top-notch, and my performance training is in full swing. I have everything I need to compete in this space. Don’t wait to invest in yourself and your gear. So long as you have both a need and the means, it could pay off in the long run. Bill DeWees speaks to studio equipment a bit in this video. I’ll keep you all updated on whether or not it was a wise investment, but for now, check out these pictures of the finished studio.
