This past March marked my second time attending VO Atlanta. I went for the first time in 2024, and that experience left such a strong impression that I knew I had to return. Coming back this year felt different though…less like stepping into the unknown and more like reconnecting with a community that feels like home.
The scale of the conference can be overwhelming at first. So many talented voice actors, coaches, and industry leaders all under one roof. But what I’ve learned is that VO Atlanta isn’t just about soaking up knowledge in workshops and panels…it’s about the energy in the hallways, the conversations between sessions, and the late-night laughs that remind you we’re all on a similar journey.
One of my favorite moments this year was running into people I had first met at the 2024 conference. Seeing how their careers had grown, and sharing what had changed for me too, made me realize how powerful it is to stay connected in this industry. VO can feel solitary at times, but events like this remind you that you’re part of something bigger. In addition to that, giving away prizes the whole time really tends to make people happy to see me, for some odd reason!
On top of the camaraderie, I came home with practical tools, fresh ideas, and new confidence in the direction I’m headed. I left inspired not just by the sessions I attended, but by the people I met.
If you’ve ever wondered whether a conference like VO Atlanta is worth it, I’d encourage you to try it at least once. I plan on attending other conferences in the near future. VO Atlanta is just easy for me because it’s in my backyard. Not every event will be for everyone, but there’s something invaluable about immersing yourself in the craft and community all at once. For me, attending twice now has been more than worth it. Each time I leave with new skills, new friends, and a renewed sense of purpose.
That’s the kind of spark that can fuel a career.
