The Dulcet One VO guarantees that all work is authentic and will never be created by a voice clone or AI model.

Finding My Groove!

Starting my VO career from a professionally-equipped studio, I have no excuses to deliver anything less than my best. And I’m happy to report that the hard work is paying off, and I’m gaining traction in the industry. But how much of the attention I’m receiving is because of optics? Would I have received the same amount of attention if I didn’t invest in higher-end equipment? The answer may never be known, but I do know that there are a few important things to prioritize when launching a VO career.

First and foremost, invest in VO coaching and training. Your performance is crucial to your success, and acting and voice acting lessons can help you become a better storyteller, which is what clients want.

Secondly, treat your recording space properly. Even with the most expensive gear, a poorly-treated space can ruin your recordings. Echoes, reverb, and sound reflection will be picked up by high-end equipment, making flaws noticeable. So, treat your space first, and then worry about equipment.

Finally, invest in equipment that works best for you. More expensive gear doesn’t necessarily mean better quality. Everyone’s voice is unique, and you may sound great on a less expensive mic. Experiment with different combinations of equipment and be willing to return anything that doesn’t work out for you.

As my VO career continues to grow, I’m excited about what the future holds. And with a focus on delivering quality work and prioritizing the right things, success is sure to follow. After all, I don’t know if I’ll ever act again after my photo fiasco in April, so this is where my focus needs to be!

Bill DeWees speaks to some of this in the video I’ll link to here.
