After being laid off in April, my biggest concern was not if, but WHEN I might start to see business pick up enough to finanically cover my family so that we’d not end up in dire straits. Well, I’m happy to say that business has been picking up quite nicely. The more I get opportunities to showcase my ability the more people enjoy my work, and return to me for repeat business. Not only that, but they are so impressed, they send friends in the industry, as well. That repeat business, and those referrals, are the best form of compliment I can receive at this stage in my career!
Now that things are picking up, and I’m getting more and more return clients, it helps to ease the burden of auditioning as much. You’ll never get away from auditioning in this game, but I need to make sure I flip it from spending 90% of my day auditioning and only 10% working (like when I started), to eventually working 90% to 95% of the time, with very little need to audition. This would mean that the work is flowing in at a good enough rate that I’m staying busy, and staying paid.
Now that I’ve finished my commercial demo with Chuck Duran, and also went through his marketing program, the final thing I needed with the finished visual demo. That is when a video editor takes the audio version of my demo, and marries it up to some visuals to create a more appealing look at my demo, as if they were actual aired commercials. Well, let me tell you, the visual demo is done, and Remy Cashman did an AMAZING job with it! See for yourself below!
I am THRILLED with the way this came out, and since receiving the finished work, I have begun marketing, with my audio and visual demos linked and ready to be seen by various potential clients, as well as talent agents/agencies. My demo has received RAVE reviews across the board, thanks in large part to the wonderful work by Chuck Duran and Stacey J. Aswad at Demos That Rock, and also Remy’s fantastic editing work to get the visuals complete! Now I have even more business coming in with clients hiring me simply based off the demo!
There has definitely been an uptick in interest and bookings since my demo was officially released, and I can’t wait to see what the future looks like now that I can really hit it hard with my marketing efforts!
